Locations

The locations where you can find the most macro-invertebrates are places where it's mostly vegetated and fresh water, but you can sample anywhere that has water. The places where we sampled were around the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Lily Pool, North Pond, Lagoon, South Pond, Pickerelweed Pond. On special occasions, we went to a bird sanctuary, Montrose beach, Lake Michigan, and Labagh Woods.

Hypothesis

Bad water quality results to not many macroinvertebrates because since macroinvertebrates are intolerant to pollution, bad water quality most likely will drive them away.

Question/Goal

The question that our group proposed and evaluated is the following: What is the relationship between macro-invertebrates and water quality?

The goal and purpose of this project is to understand what type of chemical qualities are best suitable for macro-invertebrates to live and thrive in.  The objective of this project was to determine the relationship between water quality and the presence of macroinvertebrates in different locations such as The Bird Sanctuary, The Lagoon, The Lily Pond, North Pond, South Pond, and The Pickerelweed Pond.
